Lenten Regulations & Suggestions

Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older must abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all the Fridays of Lent.

Fasting as explained by the U.S. bishops means partaking of only one full meal. Some food (not equaling another full meal) is permitted at breakfast and around midday or in the evening—depending on when a person chooses to eat the main or full meal.

Information for groups

We are open to accommodate groups at the Chapel for meetings, prayer services and Masses. Sometimes we can say a Mass for you, or you can come with your own priest. In such case, he does not have to bring his alb, stole or anything else; our Chapel is fully equipped to handle this. We have 40 chairs in the Chapel, but we can always add a few more to meet your needs. Please let us know in advance if you would like to arrange a Chapel for your group by calling us at (718) 656-5348 or emailing us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. We want you to be realistic about your visit to our Chapel: If you are arriving and one terminal, catching a connecting flight at another terminal and still coming to us (at Terminal 4) please make sure that you have enough time for all that. Calculate a possible delay of your arriving flight, then count in some time for finding your way towards Terminal 4. getting group organized, focused and the Mass set up may take a few additional minutes as well. Please consider at least an hour between leaving our chapel, getting on the AirTrain and getting through the security. To make long story short, you need about 3 hours between your arrival at JFK and your boarding time in order to comfortably use our Chapel. That does not count in any time for meal or snacks.

When arranging the Chapel, have your flight numbers handy so that we could track your flight and be alerted about any delays without you notifying us. Sometimes we are able to meet you at the arrivals hall when you arrive, walk you to the Chapel and then walk you to your check-in station.
